Trust Yourself

I've recently been reading a few awesome books (yes I know I'm kooky, I read more than one at a time.  I can't help it!!!)  but one of them is  called, "Don't Sweat the Small Stuff and it's all small stuff," by Richard Carlson.  It's a quick read, with short sections, that talk about a lot of different situations and things that come up in all of our lives and how, if we change our mindset, things aren't really as big of a deal as they seem.  Here are some examples of some really good sections: "Think of your problems as potential teachers," "Get Comfortable Not Knowing," "Keep asking yourself, what's really important," and, "Trust Your Intuitive Heart!"

I have an example of my own that illustrates that last part, trusting your heart.  I wrote before that I decided to take a part-time position at Pinecrest Gardens  over a full-time position with Fairchild.  Sounds crazy, I know.  Who the heck would give up full-time and benefits for lower pay and no paid holidays?!  Well I did and damn am I glad that I did.  I knew that the job at Pinecrest would offer me a lot of learning opportunities and would provide me with an amazing mentor.   It is also a place where I can be my weird, kooky self, and be appreciated for that.  When deciding between the two jobs, I had to choose whether to take the job that seemed better on paper, and more logical, or go with the job that spoke to my heart.

Well, I love my job at Pinecrest Gardens.  I get to be a creative gardener with a lot of freedom (something I may not have had any other place) and it looks like they are budgeting me and my co-worker to be full-time for the upcoming new budget year!!!

So I know there will always be times when we are unsure of what exactly to do in a situation.  Sometimes, we need to push forward and persevere, while other times we may need to step back and let go (trusting in the power of something bigger than ourselves to take care of us).  But I really do think that we all have this still small voice inside of us that if we relax, and take the time to listen, we will know what to do in almost every situation that life throws at us.

And one more thing!  I really think everything that is thrown at us in life happens so that we can become better.  Better versions of ourselves.  The good, the bad, and the ugly, but definitely the bad and ugly seem to change us for the better the most.  Stinks I Know!!!, but that is totally how the world works.

I'll end by saying that I hope all of you trust in your heart.  Use your head as well, but always refer back to your heart to makes sure something feels right :)

Here are some other awesome titles I've been reading!!!:

"Beyonders"  by Brandon Mull

"Reckless" by Cornelia Funke   and

"The Case for a Creator" by Lee Strobel  (this one meshes science and the belief in God!  A seriously interesting read even if you are not religious at all).

And Look I'm riding a Bull!

The best is the girl's face behind me lol
