| Fairchild Nursery!!! |
Today I got to plant some of the cutest baby cacti seedlings I have ever seen!!!! They were so tiny I had to delicately pluck them out of their soil with tweezers so that I could place them into single cell pots. We have what are called community pots, where we plant anywhere from 20 to 80 seeds in one pot, and then, with the ones that grow (for not all of them grow, sadly enough), we need to either re-plant them into bigger, single, pint size pots or into single cell community pots (like in the picture). And then we continue to re-plant into bigger pots as the planties grow bigger :)

| Cute Super tiny Cacti!! |
So ma new jobbie with fairchild is going awesome :) I am on my 3rd week out of 5 working at the nursery. I will be switching to different departments so it will stay exciting. (12 months all together). It's super duper hot outside but I love working with the plants. It's a very peaceful and quiet atmosphere and we have volunteers that come help and they bring us pastries during break time lol yay for yummy free food.
So far, I've learned how to properly water plants, see when they need to be watered, when they need to be "stepped up" to a bigger pot, how to properly plant and prune and how the whole nursery works (lots of little things and always on our feet) Next weekend is a huge plant sale for members so we have been preparing for that since I started :)
