New Beginnings

Fairchild Gardens Tree

HI ya'll :)  I haven't updated in a while because I've been super busy with ma fun new jobbie!

Fairchild Gardens main view
I got the Horticulture intern position at Fairchild Tropical Gardens yay!!!  Sadly I had to give up the FIU job, Pre-k Office job, and art teaching part time jobs but I really think this will be worth it.  I'll get so much experience and it'll look kick butt on my resume.  The first six months I will be working full-time at Fairchild and then the next six months at a beautiful private garden in Manalapan Florida...it's by about Boca, FL and they try to keep it a secret but everyone knows about it lol...kinda strange..but exciting!

If ya don't know what a Horticulturist is : we study plants and how to cultivate them aka: gardening :D

After graduating UM, having studied film and art, it's been super hard to find a job that I want to do that will pay... and I didnt really want to move to LA!  While I was deciding what to do, I started volunteering at fairchild and discovered that I love learning about plants and working outdoors.  So now I'm studying Horticulture at MDC and should be done by about May next year.  I love it and it's the kind of work that actually makes me feel at peace and happy.  I couldn't ask for more.

At fairchild we are growing and conserving and sharing plants with the world.  It is such a beautiful place I encourage you to visit if you ever get the chance.  http://www.fairchildgarden.org/

Hopefully, after the internship, I will be able to find similar work at a Botanical Gardens somewhere: Colorado, North Carolina, and New York all have gorgeous gardens.

And of course I'm still working hard to make Hoboe Jane successful and my sculpture work ;D  It's really neat how nature goes really well with me art background and you will definitely see it's influences in my latest pieces that I'm working on :

lady bug berets
pumpkin berets
leaf headbands

and

googly eye large scale flowers :D
